Australia is the lucky country!
Over the last past few years, I have seen a lot of negative attitude toward Information Technology future especially in Australia or maybe around in world (?). So If there were a man asked "What is the future of I.T in Australia", maybe the majority of comments would be "Don't do I.T because it's sux" or maybe "Don't do I.T because the curry will take over your job" or something similar and along those lines.
So I was wonder whether this is really the attitude of the majority of Australian workers?
I would have thought that if one country would like to enjoy high standard of living their products and services must compete internationally! and IT is one the field that we must explore! Or Was it the tyranny of distance that made us so isolated from the rest of the world so we forgot about being economically competitive?
Or maybe the phrase of "Australia is a lucky country and run by second-rate people who share its luck" made by Donald Horne was true and is true until now?
"Horne's statement was actually made ironically, as an indictment of 1960s Australia. His intent was to comment that, while other industralised nations created wealth using "clever" means such as technology and other innovations, Australia did not. Rather, Australia's economic prosperity was largely derived from its rich natural resources. Horne observed that Australia "showed less enterprise than almost any other prosperous industrial society." [1]" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucky_Country
What do you think guys?
